Bangkok — The Thai Foreign Ministry has told the international community that the actions of protesters in Thailand, in which government offices have been stormed and occupied, is illegal, undemocratic, and threatens national security.
The Ministry has sent letters explaining the current political situation to the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and foreign countries, said Foreign Minister Surapong Tohvichakchaikul.
He also sent explanations to the foreign diplomatic corp in Thailand, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and five ministers of UN Security Council members – the United States, China, United Kingdom, France, and Russia.
He asked those nations and organizations to condemn the illegal protests, said a report by The Nation.
Thus far, 22 countries have issued travel warnings advising their nationals to avoid the protests sites.
