Representatives of ASEAN Commission on the Rights of Children

Each ACWC representative is appointed by his or her government. The process of appointment differs in each country.

Dato Paduka Dr Haji Junaidi Bin Haji ABD. Rahman

2016-2019

Dato Paduka Dr Haji Junaidi bin Haji Abd. Rahman was formerly the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education in Brunei Darussalam since 2009 until 2017. His previous appointments include Acting Vice Chancellor at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam; a Dean at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Insitute of Education; Universiti Brunei Darussalam; and an Acting Headmaster at the Datu Mahawangsa Lambak Primary School. His highest educational training was a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Assessment and Evaluation from University of Warwick, England. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts Education in Teaching English as a Second Language from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and a Masters of Arts in English Language Teaching from the University of Warwick, England.

H.E. Mr. Theng Chhorvirith

Theng Chhorvirith currently serves as Technical Assistant to the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MOSVY). Mr. Theng was formerly a Programme Coordinator of Save the Children Organizations (Save the Children Norway, United Kingdom and Australia) and ILO/IPEC for more than 20 years of experiences. He managed various national programmes to promote and implement the UN-CRC, ILO Conventions and other relevant national policies on the rights of children/child protection through working in partnership with relevant government ministries, employers’ and workers’ organizations, and civil society organizations (CSOs) for the promotion and protection of the rights of children in Cambodia.

H.E. Ms. Yuyum Fhahni Paryani

Ms. Yuyum Fhahni Paryani is currently an Independent Emergency Specialist and Consultant for Child Protection and an External Member of the Emergency Roster of Plan International. Ms. Paryani has been actively involved as a Facilitator in the Child Care Indonesia Network (Jaringan Peduli Anak Indonesia), which is supported by UNICEF and the SMERU Research Institute.

H.E. Ms. Congchith Chantharanonh

2010-Current

Ms. Congchith Chantharanonh has been the Acting Secretary General of the National Commission for Mothers and Children Secretariat since 2011. Prior to assuming this position, she worked for the Mekong River Commission Secretariat and a range of different government departments. This is her second term with ACWC.

Prof. Dato’ Noor Aziah Mohd Awal

Prof. Dato’ Noor Aziah Mohd Awal is currently a Professor of Law in Family, Women and Children and teaching postgraduate students on Child Law, Family Law Comparative at Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia) UKM. She is currently the Deputy ViceChancellor (Students’ and Alumni Affairs) at (The National University of Malaysia) since February 1st, 2014 until 31st January 2018.

H.E. Ms. Rupar Mya

Current

Rupar Mya is the Deputy Director of Department of Social Welfare at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement of Myanmar. She started her career in the Ministry in the Divisional Social Welfare Office, which was responsible for supervising preschools and voluntary training schools for orphanages.

H.E. Mr. Koh Choon Hui

Mr Koh Choon Hui was Managing Director of Roche Singapore Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the leading Swiss Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences group, Roche Holding Ltd from 1999 – 2012. As recognition for his efforts to advance the children’s development and community service, he was appointed as Singapore’s Representative for Children’s Right to the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) in 2010. Mr Koh Choon Hui was Managing Director of Roche Singapore Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the leading Swiss Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences group, Roche Holding Ltd from 1999- 2012. H.E. Mr. Wanchai Roujanavong

Mr. Wanchai Roujanavong is currently a Senior Consultant Prosecutor in the Office of the Attorney-General of the Kingdom of Thailand. He was previously the Director General for International Affairs Department, and Director General for the Labour Litigation Department in the Office of the Attorney-General. He also used to be the Director General for the Department of Correction, and Director-General for the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection in the Ministry of Justice.
