Essay Writing Contest on Critical Human Rights and Peace Issues in Southeast Asia

The Strengthening Human Rights and Peace Research and Education in Southeast Asia (SHAPE-SEA), ASEAN University Network-Human Rights Education Theme (AUN-HRE), and the the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) at University of Oslo invite the youth to join this year’s Essay Writing Competition for Undergraduate Students on Critical Human Rights and Peace Issues in ASEAN/Southeast Asia. This year’s theme is “ASEAN’S Golden Chance to Save the “Golden Land:” Seeking Regional Solutions for the Protection of Human Rights and Restoration of Democracy in Myanmar.”

This essay competition aims to provide Southeast Asian undergraduate students a platform to analyse the current situation in Myanmar and to provide sound recommendations for ASEAN and its member states in pursuit of the restoration of democracy and the ability of the people to fully claim their basic rights and freedoms.
