ACSC/APF 2014 – 4th Preparatory Meeting 22-23 February 2014

    The 3rd Regional Preparatory Meeting of the ACSC/APF 2014 was held on 12-13 January 2014, in Mi Casa Hotel, Yangon – Myanmar.

    ACSC/APF is an annual/ regular forum of CSOs in ASEAN Member States, which is held as a parallel meeting to the ASEAN Summit of Heads of State. The meeting is hosted by civil society in the country that holds the ASEAN Chairmanship. Participants of this forum come from civil society organizations, NGOs, people’s organizations, and people’s movements. In this meeting, CSOs bring up broad issues from different sectors and concerns, such as human rights, development, trade, environment, youth, and culture, affecting many countries in the region. The ACSC/APF also features a forum through which participants can better understand the host country from the perspective of civil society.

    2014 ACSC/APF will be held from 21-24 March 2014 in Yangon, Myanmar.

    During ACSC/APF 2014, participants will discuss issues ranging from peace, development, economic empowerment of the people, human rights and fundamental freedoms, democracy, and democratization, etc.

    The deadline for submitting workshop proposal has already passed by 11 January 2014. Please check the guideline prepared by the Program Committee of the ACSC/APF 2014 here. 

    The next (4th) Preparatory Meeting of ACSC/APF 2014 will be held on 22-23 February in Yangon. 

    Objective

    • Share experiences and show solidarity within Civil Society Organizations’ struggles and raise the collective regional voices on important issues in the region.
    • Organize openness and inclusive ASEAN Civil Society Conference (ACSC) / ASEAN Peoples’ Forum (APF) to be held next year ahead of the ASEAN Summit (2014).
