The Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH) was founded on the idea presented at the III Congress of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradin) in 1969. This idea received approval from the Central Executive Board of Peradin through Decree Number 001 / Kep / 10/1970 dated October 26, 1970 which contents of the stipulation on the establishment of the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute and the Public Defender Agency which came into effect on October 28, 1970.
