    II. Organizational Context
    Under the overall guidance of the Representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Cambodia and the direct supervision of the Prison Reform Support Programme Coordinator.

     Associate Programme Officer
    The incumbent will contribute to the strategy and direction of the activities of the OHCHR Prison Reform Support Programme Unit and their implementation, and will have a supervisory role for programmatic staff when necessary.
    The Associate Programme Officer works in close collaboration with other Units, especially the Rule of Law Unit, as required to exchange information and support programme delivery.

    Programme Assistant
    The incumbent provides programme support and assistance in the implementation of OHCHR workplan to support prison reform in Cambodia.
    The Programme Assistant works in close collaboration with other Units, especially the Rule of Law Unit, as required to exchange information and support programme delivery.

    Job Requirement :

    Associate Programme Officer

    EDUCATION

    •     A completed, advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in law, political and social sciences or related fields.

    EXPERIENCE

    •     Up to 2 years of professional experience at the national or international level working in the area of human rights
    •     Experience in human rights monitoring and investigation
    •     Experience in legal and policy analysis and knowledge of the country’s laws and policies relating to the criminal justice
    •     Experience in visiting prisons an asset
    •     Experience of working in cooperation with Government, criminal justice, development partners and civil society organisations
    •     Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and write briefing notes and reports both in English and Khmer
    •     Ability to make presentations to both internal and external audiences
    •     Strong computer skills using MS Office applications, including knowledge and practice of Khmer Unicode
    •     Readiness to undertake travel throughout the country
    •     Respect of confidentiality, discretion and integrity

    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

    •     Proficiency in oral and written English and Khmer

     

    Programme Assistant

    EDUCATION

    •  Secondary Education.
    • Bachelors or higher degree in law, political and social sciences or related fields desirable

    EXPERIENCE

    •     At least 5 years of relevant experience working in the area of human rights and/or law, with experience working on criminal justice issues
    •     Experience in human rights monitoring and investigation
    •     Experience in visiting prisons a serious asset
    •     Knowledge of the country’s criminal laws and procedures an asset;
    •     Experience of working in cooperation with Government, criminal justice and civil society organisations
    •     Good computer skills using MS Office applications. Knowledge and practice of Khmer Unicode;
    •     Readiness to undertake travel throughout the country;
    •     Respect of confidentiality, discretion and integrity

     LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

    •     Fluency in oral and written English and Khmer
