Regional Consultation Meeting on Business and Human Rights Reporting and Assurance Frameworks Initiative (RAFI)

November 22, 2013 - November 22, 2013
CSO Event

The project team of the Business and Human Rights Reporting and Assurance Frameworks Initiative (“RAFI”), consisting of Shift, Mazars, and HRRC, will be holding a regional consultation meeting on Friday, the 22nd of November at the Grande Centre Point Hotel Ratchadamri in Bangkok, Thailand.

The meeting will provide regional participants who have an interest in corporate social responsibility with further information regarding the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (Guiding Principles). The Guiding Principles, which were unanimously endorsed by the United Nations Human Rights Council in 2011, after six years of global consultations, are now recognized as setting the international benchmark for companies’ respect for human rights. As a result, ensuring conformity with the Guiding Principles is set to become a core component of strategic corporate social responsibility as it is developed throughout ASEAN (as well as globally) in the years to come. Understanding the Guiding Principles will therefore become increasingly important for companies engaged in CSR.

Another purpose of this meeting is to provide participants with information regarding the Reporting and Assurance Frameworks Initiative, or RAFI. RAFI is a global, consultative initiative to develop public reporting and assurance frameworks based on the UN Guiding Principles.

More information on “RAFI” can be found at HRRC web portal.
