The Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), together with the Asia Democracy Network, will be organizing special session of #2021AsiaDemocracyAssembly on November 19, 2021 at 4:00 pm (Korean Standard Time). The session aims to discuss issues on the role of journalists in fighting for democracy and freedom of expression in Myanmar.
This session will be open for participants joining the Asia Democracy Assembly and are keen to deepen their knowledge on human rights violations in Myanmar, as well as what it means for a journalist to live in fear and comprehend their battle for democracy through journalism. Furthermore, to comprehend the country’s future landscape of non-state media outlets and freedom of speech. It also hopes to gather insights on possible actions to support free speech and independent media amid the dangerous situation in Myanmar.
