Foundation for Media Alternatives is a nonprofit NGO in the Philippines seeking to democratize information and communication systems and resources for citizens and communities. Since FMA’s formation in 1987, it has assisted civil society organizations and other development stakeholders in asserting and defending communication rights, towards progressive social transformation. FMA has focused its interventions on information and communications technologies (ICTs) and the internet since 1996, seeking to frame ICT policy and internet governance discourse within a strong public interest perspective in Philippine, Asian, and global spaces. It implements programs and projects that promote internet freedom, openness and access, digital inclusion and gender-fair ICTs.
