Investigation commission for Du Chee Yar Tan incident to report at the end of this month

An investigation commission for Du Chee Yar Tan village incident was formed with ten commission members on 6 February with the order from Presidential Office. It was published in government owned newspapers on 7 February.
Chairperson of Myanmar Red Cross Association Dr. Thar Hla Shwe acted as chairperson of the commission. The commission members are from Myanmar Human Rights Commission, one from international law expert, three from interfaith group, one retired ambassador, and two from town elders of Sittwe and Maungdaw respectively. Dr. Kyaw Yin Hlaing of Myanmar Egress will act as secretary of the investigation commission.
The Commission will investigate the death of Sergeant Aung Kyaw Thein of Kayay Myaing police station in Du Chee Yar Tan village. The Commission will seek clarifications on the alleged culprits of the fire that broke out in Du Chee Yar Tan (West) on 28 January, as well as false and fabricated news perhaining to the fire that broke out in Du Chee Yar Tan (West) and the damaged properties. The Commission has to report to the President directly with the findings on 28 February.
While the commission is implementing its procedure, the President office and Rakhine State Government will take up the role of providing  security and administrative requirements. While carrying out the investigation, the commission will call on witnesses from various  places according to President Office Order.
