Anifah Partakes In Asean Foreign Ministers’ Retreat In Myanmar

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (Bernama) — Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman is leading a Malaysian delegation to the two-day Asean Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Bagan, Myanmar beginning Thursday.

It is the first Asean meeting hosted by Myanmar as chairman of the grouping for 2014.

“The retreat will discuss, among others, the follow-ups to the decisions made at the 23rd Asean Summit last October, the setting up of the Asean Community and the post-2015 Asean Community vision,” said the Foreign Ministry in a statement today.

Anifah and his Asean counterparts are also expected to discuss regional issues and international issues of common interest.

The retreat will be preceded by an Asean Senior Officials’ Meeting and the Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to Asean.
