Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) persons continue to face discrimination and violence in today’s world. In Thailand, several organisations are formed to address the issue. Activists come together to voice their stand against discrimination and prejudice. Now, Bangkok is to be the destination for the world conference that will unite voices to end such discrimination.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) persons continue to face discrimination and violence in today’s world. In Thailand, several organisations are formed to address the issue. Activists come together to voice their stand against discrimination and prejudice. Now, Bangkok is to be the destination for the world conference that will unite voices to end such discrimination.

International lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex association (ILGA) is to hold the ILGA World Conference 2016 in cooperation with Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand, several civil society organisations for LGBTI movement in Thailand, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, National Human Rights Commission, Rights and Liberties Protection Department, Ministry of Justice, United Nations Development Programme, and Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences-AFRIMS. The 28th ILGA World Conference will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from November 28 to December 2, 2016. With 500 participants from around the globe, many plenaries and workshops will explore issues on a global level and coordinate organisations together, including government sector, national and international organisations, private sectors, and international media, to work towards diminishing all forms of discrimination faced by LGBTIs.

Panelists for the press conference are (1) Renato Sabbadini, Director for ILGA World; (2) Midnight Poonkasetwattana, Director at APCOM, to discuss about LGBTI movement in Asia and a voice for gay men and MSM; (3) Rapeepun Jommaroeng, Director at Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (RSAT); (4) Nada Chaiyajit, an advocate for legal gender recognition and an activist for trans women and intersex persons; (5) Kaona Saowakun, trans men activist. The panel will be moderated by Bow Nattaa Mahattana, Program host for Cozy Living on Voice TV, teacher and corporate trainer.
