The All-Party Parliamentary Human Rights Group (PHRG) is supporting the British Group of the IPU (BGIPU) by providing briefings on the countries the BGIPU delegation hopes to have bilateral meetings with at the Assembly. These countries include Afghanistan, Malaysia, Iraq, Turkey, Myanmar and Ukraine, amongst others. The PHRG also encourages the BGIPU delegation to raise relevant cases involving human rights abuses of MPs, which have been brought before the IPU’s Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians, to facilitate a resolution of those cases.
The PHRG will continue to support the BGIPU in its work to champion democracy and human rights through its Parliamentary diplomacy.
