    “Advancing Human Rights in ASEAN During the 2nd Term of ASEAN Human Rights Mechanisms (2012-2015)”

    The Regional Consultation on ASEAN and Human Rights is an ASEAN civil society initiative led by the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) and SAPA Task Force on ASEAN and Human Rights (TFAHR). The Regional Consultation serves as a platform for strengthening engagement with the ASEAN Human Rights Mechanisms, and for discussing the human rights situation in the ASEAN region.

    The key issues that discussed during this year’s consultation are: The review of the AICHR Terms of Reference that is due to begin in 2014 and Business and human rights in ASEAN.

    Objective

    • To provide a platform for dialogue, cooperation and coordination in ASEAN civil society’s engagement with AICHR and ACWC;
    • To identify challenges and opportunities in the review of the AICHR ToR; and
    • To further the approach of Corporate Accountability, which is based on international human rights law and standards, in the issue of business and human rights in ASEAN;
