Calling the Government of Thailand to Provide Accessible Buses for All

    Thai Disability Alliance with the support of Disabled Peoples’ International Asia Pacific (DPIAP) and its 26 Members National Assembly call the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to provide low floor buses with manual ramp for disability.

    Thailand has become state party of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) since 2008. Accessibility is a principle along with other 7 principles to CRPD. Article 20 – Personal mobility states that State Parties shall take effective measures to ensure personal mobility with the greatest possible independence for persons with disabilities.

    Objective

    • Demand that the government of Thailand – particularly Thai Ministry of Transportation to provide accessible buses to disability according to the principle of the CRPD
    • Urge the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to provide low floor buses with manual ramp to accommodate all passengers who have mobility challenges.
