Amnesty International’s Nairobi Office of the Regional Office for East and Southern Africa is hiring our first regional researcher on economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR).
The thematic role will cover East Africa, the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes. We are looking for a researcher with expert knowledge of ESCR with an intersectional lens. Ideally they will have worked in more than one country in the region on this and preferably at a regional level too. They will have led human rights research in-country, have published on ESCR, and have experience of working with rights holders and communities most impacted by discrimination and ESCR. They will have significant scope to shape this work, together with other colleagues, under our new strategy which places greater focus on these issues.
As Amnesty International’s lead expert on equality and economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR) research and advocacy in East Africa, the Horn and the Great Lakes, you will develop and implement intersectional research and advocacy strategies to deliver impact. As well as originating your own outputs, you will advise on research framing, methodology and peer review equality, non- discrimination and ESCR outputs by other colleagues. You will build learn from and center rights holders and communities most impacted by equality and discrimination and ESCR violations in Amnesty International’s strategies for change.
