    Job Purpose

    To support the Burma Partnership team working closely with the Research and Advocacy Officer. To assist with research and develop written materials in English about pressing political developments in Burma. Assist with disseminating information to local organizations, solidarity groups and international actors.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This position will support the media and communications team in maintaining a steady, high-quality flow of information through Burma Partnership’s mailing list and website.
    1. Create website content

    •     Edit and update posts on the website as necessary
    •     Write and translate posts in English and Burmese
    •     Work with solidarity and local partners to further develop web content

    2. Help develop Burma Partnership’s website

    •     Support website development by proposing and implementing new features on the website as needed
    •     Edit website code using WordPress

    3. Assist in information dissemination

    •     Support creation and distribution of weekly news updates for email subscribers
    •     Help develop creative advocacy communications materials

    4. Manage partnerships and contacts

    •     Maintain contact list
    •     Solicit participation for events and actions
    •     Conduct regular outreach through online email platforms

    5. Translation

    •     Translate materials between Burmese and English

    6.   Other tasks as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential

    •     Experience in a communications or advocacy role
    •     Strong oral communication skills in English and Burmese
    •     Strong written skills in Burmese and English-Burmese translation abilities
    •     Strong commitment to and understanding of issues in Burma
    •     Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
    •     Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
    •     Excellent interpersonal skills
    •     Excellent attention to detail
    •     Proven computer literacy (WordPress, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
    •     Commitment to Burma Partnership’s approach and values

    Desirable

    •     Proven website management and coding skills
    •     Experience working with social media (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, etc.)
    •     Strong English written skills
    •     Strong research and analytical skills
