The Asia Centre will convene the report launch event and panel discussion on the topic “Human Rights in the Time of COVID-19: Lessons Learned from Southeast Asia” which will take place on August 20, 2021, at 1:00 pm (Bangkok/Jakarta Time). The event will be moderated by Prof. Kotchaphop Kornphetcharat from the Faculty of Political Science of Ubon Ratchathani University. The English-Thai translation will be available and is provided by Asst. Prof. Boonthiwa Paungklad and Dr. Thanachate Wisaijorn from the Faculty of Political Science, Ubon Ratchathani University.
During the first session marking the report launch, Dr. James Gomez (Asia Centre) will present the findings of the report, followed by responses from Dr. Sirinbhattra Sathabhornwong (Faculty of Political Science [co-host], Ubon Ratchathani University). The report, titled “Infodemic” and SDGs: Internet Freedoms on Southeast Asia, demonstrates the COVID-19 related infodemic’s impact on the SDGs and internet freedoms. The report is a joint project with the Thai Media Fund aimed at promoting digital and media literacy.
Here are the speakers for the panel discussion “Respect for Human Rights: Measurement and Implementation of Public Health Policy in Southeast Asia”. During the discussion, a panel of speakers from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will offer perspectives from their country.
